I have no idea if this has ever been done before.

Anyway, it's all about self portraits. Do you take them, have you ever taken them? Do you find the process interesting?

So, if you have taken them then show us versions of you that you like and if you haven't taken them, please do. Let's see who we talk to on a daily basis. We get to see great photos and see our friends. It's a no brainer really.

I took this of me yesterday. Inspired by Ed's tilt and shift thread I swung my lazy ass into action and had a play with my Hasselblad FlexBody which really ain't getting much use. Shot on Fuji instant film - 4 photos took me 2 hours, self portraits with the FlexBody is slow!

Rarely take pics of myself but I can live wth this...

Process: Shot with a Nikon FE2 (50mm) - Boots 400 slide film and then transferred to Fuji FP-100c.
Reflected from a Ron Arad sculpture earlier this year.

That is an awesome shot Phil! Very intense to my eye. Your look and the tilt shift together make it intense for me. And I love the color. I have no idea what the rig you used for this shot looks like and Im so curious. I didnt realize you could use instant film in a Hasselblad camera.

I really hate seeing myself so I dont like taking self portraits but as it happens, I do have quite a few from my last semester. It was a people photography class and most of the time the only people I could shoot was myself.

This is a double exposure done on purpose on a Holga 135. Like I said, I hate seeing myself in pictures and double exposures are a really great way to hide myself in the shot. LOL! I know, sort of defeats the purpose of taking a self portrait but hey, its the best I could make myself do.

It was only after developing this shot that I realised the trouble it could have got me into - taken in a ladies clothes shop, I was sitting outside the changing rooms happily clicking away to relieve the boredom whilst Deanne tried on yet another outfit.

Ian, at least you spared us the one in women's clothes although I'm sure you turn a good ankle!

Erin, I hate myself in photos also, I started to take them as a reaction to that dislike. I have found it quite liberating and interesting. By its nature the self portrait process can be slow, I enjoy that pace, the need to look at what I am doing carefully as I am at both ends of the camera so to speak. The very shallow depth of field with the FlexBody is also challenging. Having something to focus on when you are behind the camera has its problems.

What was the E: drive used for: CD-ROM, Separate Hard Disk, Separate Partition on main drive, external drive, USB Schtick, SD card?

Francois, stand down! Damion will find it by himself before too long.

We have done SP's before, Phil. Specifically here http://www.filmwasters.com/collaborations/v/17/, but the make-up of the forum has changed in the later year and it's wonderful seeing some new SP's. Also, I always cackle with glee when all you photographer types bleat on about preferring to be behind the camera

Take a taste of your own medicine, people...expose yourselves.

That said, it is nice that Phil kept his rear end (shapely as it is) hidden from the Filmwasters public on this occasion

I quite like taking SP's when I get the time...which isn't often. I do plan a lot of them which I then don't follow through with; pretty much the way with all of my photography. A lot of thinking with very little to show for it.

Here is one from March. I use it as my FW avatar so it'll look familiar, although it lacks a certain punch at 90x90 pixels

I used the Tachihara 5x4, but shot it on the smaller (100 series) Polacolor 125i film with the usual stain on the print. The unconvincing stubble isn't a permanent feature. When he saw this online, my Dad thought it was a photo of him from 30 years ago...which was kind of spooked me out and made me happy at the same time.

Yeah, photographers always complain about being in front of the lens - it is an oddly addictive process and I feel quite useful to do.

Yes, you lot - photos please, NOW! Think of it as a collaboration with a prize although it isn't and it hasn't - hey, self adoration is true filmwasting!

Windy, love that you're in the ladies clothes section with the camera taking a self portrait. Its like a day in the life of the other half. Its awesome!!!

Miles, liked both shots but I like the d.e. the most. You look like you were on a train when you took the shot.

Phil, thank you for the camera porn!!! I get it a little now. Is that your rig? And I totally understand shooting self portraits to fight against the dislike of them. By the end of the semester I think I actually got to the point where seeing the shots didnt trigger my flight or fight response. LOL!

Damion, love both the shots a lot but am drawn to the collage more. I find photo collages of a single subject fascinating and I dearly love them and I think yours is one of the best I've seen. A new favorite of mine. My other top favorite is the collage of images of Hwy 138. Im ashamed that I cant remember the photogs name but I learned about him in school.

I guess I missed the "me by me" collaboration as I wasn't a member at that time, some really good pictures in there... optometropolis shot it's really amazing !

Thanks Mauricio - This was one of my favorite places to play as a child. Now the sea grasses and sand dunes are protected so it's a no-no to tread on them (I allow myself to break the rules a few times a year for the views and the memories)

Have developed one of the two sheets I took. Will just have to print them before showing you. Not exactly the most flattering angle but when you have 17+lbs of apples, you do what you have to do.

Taken with a Franka Rolfix - long exposure -with Kentmere art Document paper as neg then enlarged onto Forte paper.

jojonas - they actually are, though you really have to squeeze (see my hand?). I have a 30' cable and one time accomplished using my heel for a selfie, but that felt like a major feat.
