Usual rules. Choose a single negative. Make postcards from it. Send one postcard to each participant.
Sign up here with a "yay" before the 15th March. PM me your address and I'll send them all out for you to post away.
Exciting 😄 💃🏻

Yay! Let's do it!

YES!

Yay!

Yay! I have some recent photos that would look good on a postcard.

Sounds fun, but I'm in France so it could get expensive for many of you :-\

All part of the fun Phil.

Hi Everyone. I am nearly ready to send out the postcard list for mailing, but I am awaiting addresses from:
Kai San ( I have an address from the previous exchange in 2021, are you still at the same address?)
and
Phil Snaps
Please send me a DM by Wednesday this week and I will contact you all with the address list.
Thank you :)
-
Almost ready for the 'off'!! Exciting times.
-
Yeah! And it's been years since I haven't participated.
-
How do you print your postcards? Also do you send them as actual postcards with the address on the back, or in an envelope? With inkjet prints I fear humidity or condensation could ruin the picture.
-
I have done darkroom postcards, inkjet postcards and more recently have used a print-on-demand service like Moo or something. It's not going to be photo-perfect quality, but that's not the point for me. If you wanted to send out something of a higher quality, then a postcard size inkjet in a cheap envelope perhaps? Don't worry too much about perfection, unless that is absolutely your schtick, then go for it! :)
-
Every postcard exchange, I go the same way. I send the images to a local drugstore to get some prints done. When I go for something slower than than an instant service, I tend to get some nice Fuji crystal archive prints that don't scratch through the mail like the instant prints from those Kodak machines we see everywhere. I inkjet print a custom bristol board backing for them and then assemble with glue. The excess gets trimmed with a guillotine or a box cutter and a metal ruler.
So far I heard that they survive the postal service quite well.
-
A friend and I have experimented with the print on demand service called Touchnote.
They do it all, print, address and mail.
It's a little pricey, but the service and stock they use is quite good.
I've hung one outside in the woods and it has survived quite well for a year.
I know this is extreme, but I'm a testing geek, so a lot of print types get displayed in the woods behind my house for the critters.
The Touchnote is nice. Thick stock too.
-
Touchnote looks interesting, 3,29 € all included. The price is not so bad, an international postcard with the French postal service is 1,96 €, then there would be the printing cost.

Hi All
I have nearly everyone's addresses, but I am still waiting to hear from Kai-San. I have an old address (from 2021), but I don't want to use that in case Kai has moved since and we all send our postcards to a random person! I have sent a DM to Kai-San too and have not had a reply.
I think I will send out the address list later this evening and leave Kai-San off. Sorry Kai if you see this too late and haven't sent your details yet. Please get in touch and I will send you one from me anyway.

You should all have your address list. Please let me know if you have not received it in your personal messages inbox.
Happy sending!!
Post here when you receive yours and share the joy ;D
-
There is no message in my inbox, I do not know where you sent that PM. I have not changed my address since 2021, but if I'm out then I'm out.
-
but if I'm out then I'm out.
Don't say that!
We're gonna wait (I haven't sent the image to the lab yet) :)

Look a few posts up the thread here, we are saving cards for you, just need your address.
Reply to Leanne.
You are not out.
I've got a card ready to send you...
-
Thanks Francois and Becky! I've sent a PM to Leanne, hope it works that way.

No hope needed this time, it is gonna work that way 😊
-
Postcards made, addressed, stamped and ready for the post on Monday!
-
Wow!
That was fast. I'm still waiting for the lab to call me...
-
Monday is a holiday here, so I'll have to wait till Tuesday. Now if anybody could forward the address list to me, I could be ready as well! :)
-
Hi Kai
I messaged you a few times for your address. I've received it now through DM.
I'm not near my list right now, but I'll send it to you tomorrow am.
Best wishes
Leanne.
-
Will we get Kai-san's address in a PM? I'm ready to send, through Touchnote this time. I'd love to make the cards myself, but won't have enough time these days because reasons.
-
Hi Philippe, I sent you a PM with my address. If anyone else needs my address, just PM me.

Not sure if this is the place to post, but Kai is quick off the mark, I received his card on Thursday. Lovely, thanks Kai.
-
Holy crap! That was fast!
I just got the pictures from the lab yesterday...
-
I just got one from Becky yesterday, the post office wasn’t nice to it but I still enjoyed it very much. I just spent most of the day in the darkroom printing mine, I’ll get them mailed soon.
-

You're welcome, Harvey! I sent them out on Tuesday morning, so two days to the UK is extremely fast!
-
Hi everyone. I got two cards in the mail already. Yay! I was away from home just week and so only sent my print off to the POD service today. With a fair wind I'm hoping to get my cards mailed off this weekend though.
-
Many thanks to Becky and Kai for the postcards that arrived today. I will have to get some fresh developer as mine is a very dark brown and get to producing.
-
Just got Becky's card this morning. That was fast!
I did get the backs printed and cut for mine this afternoon.
Need to glue, stamp and decorate.
-
Got Astrobeck's card too today. Fast indeed! And I love it, both beautiful and historic :)
I'm in a scanning frenzy, and will ship mine before the week-end.
-
I received Kai's this morning. Really beautiful tones on this one.
I just finished gluing mine together. Now trimming, writing, stamping and mailing is left.
-
Good news everyone!
The cards are in the mail.
The postman will pick them up at 5 tonight and they will be on their way 😊

Thanks Francois! A week to Canada is not bad, good to see the postal services are not entirely dysfunctional. Here they are cutting cost (increasing profit is a better way to describe it) so we get mail only every other day, and since they make their own rules we get mail three days this week and two days next week and so on.
-
Bryan and Kai's great cards arrived while i was away.
Nice both of them!
The tones on Kai's are just divine and happy always to see a new dog from Bryan.

Yeah! I just got Bryan's about 5 minutes ago.
For some reason I have the feeling that there was a treat involved in the picture 😁

No treat, but that would have helped. Getting him to sit still for 2 seconds so I could focus was a impossible. I just had to be patient and wait for the right moment.
I just got Kai's great card!

Three more beauties have dropped onto my door mat so far this week: Francois' majestic 'Big Sprocket', Bryan's adorable puppy and Shaun/Harvey's utterly bewitching high altitude Dorset tree-scape. Exciting times. Thanks very much.
For my own part my cards are addressed and just need something witty and/or informative written on them. I have really gotten out of the habit of writing, so it's a bit daunting ;D Apologies in advance for the brevity and any illegibility :-[
-
Wow!
For once, Canada Post was speedy!
I'm really glad you liked the sprocket 😊
-
Two wonderful cards in the mail this morning from Francois and Bryan. Thanks guys!
-
My cards have just arrived from the printer, so they will be posted today. Thank you for all the cards received so far - I especially like Shaun's view of Dorset.
-
Last night I got Harvey's card.
I'm really surprised by the tones on that tree. Looks like charcoal. Sweet.
-
All mine have been shipped out! I actually made two different images this time and I can't quite remember which I sent to whom, so it will be a surprise for both of us. So far I've received a dog, a ribbon on a fence, and a scene from the American West, all of which I really enjoyed! So fun to see all the different approaches to capturing and printing these.
-
I want to thank you all for the cards that have popped through the letter box over the last week, a wonderfully varied selection of shots.
I have decided to tone the prints so I will get my cards out soon just waiting for some dev trays so I can selenium tone them
-
Wonderful cards today from Harvey, Francois and grit .
Fabulous all!
The piano tuner from grit is especially a treasure.
Harvey's tree is sublime.
The bridge lift from Francois is really cool.
This is so far a fun and varied exchange
-
When I returned from a photo shoot this morning there were two very nice postcards waiting for me, one from Ryan and one from Shaun. Thank you very much guys!
-
Now do I have a story for y'all!
Just a minute ago, I see an old rusted-out Jeep park in front of the house and a guy with a plaid lumberjack coat and a tuque come out and ring at the door. I was really wondering what's up with that. He told me that he lives in an apartment on the following street and that he found a postcard lying on the sidewalk. So he proceeded to deliver it since "nobody sends hand written letters anymore".
It turns out it was Ryan's Piano Tuner postcard!
The image is in perfect shape, corners barely rounded.
Now that it what I call a stoke of luck. He definitely is a good person! 8)
I should add that the mailman came yesterday at 8:30pm... And it has been just sitting there on the sidewalk for all that time without anybody stepping on it.

That's something I worry about when I mail my cards, it would be easy for them to slip between a crack or get lost somehow. I printed a few extra so if someone didn't get one I can send another. I mailed all of them on April 8, hopefully they all made it to their destinations by now.
-
Must be your lucky day Francois, hope you used it well! People do those kind of deeds here as well, but here it could easily have been gone with the wind.

That's what usually happens to my mail... especially when we have an illiterate mailman (it happened more than once).

Same, I have a few spare ones. But I finally posted them only yesterday morning so don't expect them next Monday… Sorry, it took way longer than I wanted!
-
What a journey!! Glad it made it to you in one piece!

Not as much as me 😊
-
Just got Zapsnaps' South African sun last night.
One more for the collection 😊
And great news, the mailman got a headlamp! So there shouldn't be any more lost mail 😊
-
I also got it a couple days ago, love how the sun trail mirrors the railing.
-
I received Phil's card today a colourful scene from France, thanks very much.
Mine were posted on Monday so hopeful that you should all get it soon
-
Ihave extras as well if anyone is missing one.
I posted mine long ago, so everyone should have one by now...just let me know.
P.S. Bryan, I can resend you one since yours was wrecked in the mail.
-
I just got Ed's card in the mail.
A lovely piece of Diana magic. 😊

No need, it’s not that bad. It gives it a little character.

A mysterious card from Ed in the post this morning, thanks!

It is the kind of picture where at first you don't know what is going on, then you keep looking at it as days pass and you make up a story.
-
I got early mail today... not a common thing these days.
Even less common is a very well protected photo in a cardboard mailer!
I wonder if Irv found a monster in that Loch? 😁
BTW, the stamp hasn't even been canceled by Royal Mail 😉
-

I received the Loch today –what a feel of space!– and the stamp was also not cancelled.

For some reason, I feel like I could do a ton of jokes about the Postal Service right now ;D
-
Today I received a very nice "astronomical" card from David, thanks! There was not supposed to be any delivery of post today, but when they deliver parcels they also bring along any other post they may have for you. Every day is a new surprise when you open your letterbox. :o
-
Just got Phil's sweet view of Provence. Looks much better than my home town 🙄
-
Today I received Irv's toned image, very nice! Selenium is a very versatile substance, in addition to it's use in light meters and toning I'm taking it every morning as a supplement.
-
Received a very nice card from Phil this morning, thanks! I had to peel away a yellow strip of magnetic tape to be able to read who sent it. I've never seen this thing in use here domestically.
-
I've never seen magnetic tape on mail period!

Wow, never heard about such a thing! Glad it arrived :)

Sad to have missed this year's exchange, but through a combination of factors I've hardly picked up a camera for the last year or so, which has somewhat reduced my visits here.
Tidying the desk this week, I came across a tin full of cards from previous years' exchanges, so I made a coffee and spent a little time with them, which cheered the soul.
Glad to see the community remains active, and will be keen to see everyone's postcards when you start posting them up.
Will try to drop in more frequently, and hopefully time and inspiration might align for me.
Take care all.
Tony.

I received eight cards so far. What about other filmwasters?
