Wanted -Polaroid back for LF - large format Pola PACK film.
« on: February 09, 2010, 05:20:56 PM »
Hi,  Im after the Pola or Fuji back for LF Pack film.

Its either 550, or 505   I cant strictly recall now,  but Im guessing if you have one going spare you will know!  Just to clarify this is the back for 4x5 pack film rather than sheet film.

I can offer either cash or sex.   But its possibly better for all concerned if we go the cash route.

Damion, it's the 550 back you want for the 5x4 Fujifilm pack film...and no, you cannae have mine. Sorry.

p.s.
I seem to remember reading something here and on the BJP site that Fuji have brought out their own back for this style of film. Will dig into it.

Here we go: http://filmwasters.com/forum/index.php?topic=2345.0

BTW, the title of your post is a bit confusing, at least to me. To the best of my knowledge Polaroid never made any LF pack film....although even as I type that I can feel people getting ready to correct me, so maybe I'm wrong. Not since I've been using instant film they haven't anyway.

However, it does seem strange that they'd make a back for someone else's film.

 ??? ???

ANYWAY, the Fuji own-brand back is called the Instant Holder PA-45 and you might see if Skj can track one down for you in the non-traditional Tokyo which seems to love his camera so damn much. They've been on sale there for years, but the BJP announcement is about them re-introducing them to Europe. I haven't looked up how much they cost, but I doubt they're cheap.

I got my Polaroid 550 back on evilBay about 5 years ago for around GBP40 I think.

Fuji does have their own back, it's roughly 210 USD. On an auction site you're likely to pick up the Polaroid branded back cheaper. There's one on the US ebay 80 USD with 2 days left.

Agreed, Gregor. The Fuji backs do seem to be more expensive.

Damion, check this link out. When I last looked there were 4 backs available (either Pola or Fuji). Looks like you'll be shelling out GBP80-100 though unless you're lucky.

Damn!

I was hoping for cheaper.

Thanks Gregor,  Appreciate the offer...I am tempted but after those 3 boxes of film im guessing it will be useless and no other film available.

Although can that holder be used with quickload film?

Fuji has a Peel apert pack film. For sheet film they still make a quick load, but it is being phased out.

It's not to hard to find 4x5 polaroid film, but it's double to triple the last retail price - typically 100 - 120 USD for a box of 20 sheets: 54 & 52 tend to be cheaper than 55 or 57.

Keep in mind that Polaroid also made 4x5 pack film holders for their 669 and 667 (and similar) films.
The Fuji equivalents of these films work fine in these holders (provided you take a bit of the tension out of the "V" shaped spring in the holder first). These holders will work in cameras having standard Graflok backs.

I have one of the type 100 backs that takes the polaroid 100 films and fuji runs fine through it as well.  Don't need it anymore and you can have it for the price of postage.

Not convinced the fuji 4x5 pack film really has much added value over the type 100 films unless you're bleaching off  the black backing of the fuji fp-3000b45 to make negs from the emulsion side of the film..., which can also be done with fuji fp-3000b.

Jeez... if we can break this how-confusing-can-we-make-this thread for a microsecond or two, I can indeed try and source something. Just tell me what you want!

100-series back?
545?
505?
550?
PA-45?

What sort of mount? For what camera? Possible not much more than a few beers if you want to wait a few weeks... Which one you wantski? Here's some MF stuff:

Ooops, not sure how that happened... and one LF (8x10) handcranked thing too:

Skorji,  Brother skorji

Im after a nice example of a Polaroid 550 or a Pa-45    im looking to use it with Fuji 4x5 pack film in my LF camera with standard back fitting thing.   Mine is a cambo

If you an source something, i have a little something that might just float your boat as a thank you.  (would of course stump up the cash also)

I have been searching Yahoo japan  with no success.

All large format 4x5 backs will work with the Cambo.
Just make sure you pop out the ground glass using the graflock clips before inserting the film pack. The device is too thick and could damage the back (or at least mine is).

If the cambo is like my graflex, there are sliding holders on the top and bottom which can hold the pack without the groundglass.
