Want to waste some exotics?
« on: August 05, 2006, 03:23:01 AM »
New Artdol, Natura 1600, Super Prodol, Neopan SS, Natura Black S, Neopan Acros 4x5 & 8x10 in loose sheets... do these product names tickle your filmwasting instincts?

These are some from the range of photographic products available only in Japan. Stuff I get regularly asked about.

At the Megaperls Webshop - www.unicircuits.com/shop/ - a fellow Tokyo photographer makes available a pile of interesting stuff for those who want to shift away from the routine...

For the hardware freaks, the site also lists some viewfinder magnifiers for Leica, Bessa R and Epson rangefinders. Have fun. Skj.

(No Fortia listed, but I think that's all gone anyway, but the f1.9 Natura Black PaS looks and feels pretty neat. Kinda new-gen GR1.)

I've got one roll of Fortia that I'm keeping hold of until there is none left in the world.  I'll then flaunt it recklessly, holding it to ransom - "Highest bidder stops me from fogging it" kind of thing, then perhaps I'll use the proceeds to buy back my soul from old nick

How come is it that Japan always gets the cool looking stuff?

Here up north, all Fujifilm sells in film cameras is stuff like this:

Zoom Date 120V
Fujinon 3.2x Zoom lens
Easy Drop-In loading
Large viewfinder with bright LCD panel to display shooting area
Flash modes: off, fill-in, night portrait (slow synchronization), red-eye reduction and landscape modes
Electronic self-timer

Not much to talk about...

Film is the vinyl record of photography.

A cunning ploy, young Taylor, but it will avail you nought!

You obviously haven't read the contract properly. Try looking at Volume 15, Section 468, Page 947, Paragraph 24, Line 5... or, as it is otherwise known, the "Cheesecake Clause"...!

(And his name's not "Nick", it's "Dave"! Mwah Ha Ha Ha Ha!)

Ah, the Neopan SS is interesting film in rodinal.  Grainy.  very grainy.  I'd love to try some Fortia, but hadn't been able to lay my hands on any.

Thanks for the link.
