Avebury meet picture thread
« on: June 28, 2015, 05:57:46 PM »
Everyone had a turn to sit on a stone. I'm sure someone will post a pic of me eventually.

More to come I'm sure.

Haha, Peter, brilliant.  I actually gave up trying to compose a shot of the horse's head, but you got it fine.  (Well, I'm assuming that it's not only me who can see it.)

Honestly, I feel a bit sad for those who didn't come along.  It was a great way to spend a day.

I may be some time in the devving.

Hey Peter, you're quick off the mark.....

Great day and lovely to meet up with you, Sandeha and Verian.  A bit of grey sky / drizzle soon improved.  Lovely place and excellent company.  We managed to get an hour in Lacock - but not in the house / grounds as we were relatively late there and they now demand almost £13 to have a nosey round the place  :o

That's one of the best shots of me I've seen - much better from a distance.

There's a mountain along the Lee river in southern China where you are supposed to be able to see around a dozen horses heads in the rock face. I think I could see two. Not surprisingly then, I don't see a horses head in any of the above...

Lovely to meet up with you all, it was a very enjoyable day. In the middle of some developing at the moment so might post something if I get time to scan. The only downside to the day was Paul's obsession with Morris dancers, I didn't realise somebody
could love something so much, and when we stumbled across some in full flow I thought his head would explode, it was like every Christmas and birthday had come at once.

Yes, great day and sorry I left early.

I had a small disaster. Half of my first film was fogged due the shutter being stuck open on the Baby Rollei. It's happpend once before so time for some repair I think.

You mean the one that was, maybe, 12 feet high?

In the end I could not stop myself from devving today.  First the 4x5, but a few points about the 8 shots I took.  The first two from a DDS are Era 100 (or was it Shanghai, I can never remember) done in DDX with a two stop push.  Not too bad given the very poor sky, and at least there were no light leaks from the Tutone.  However, definitely a need for either a better viewfinder, or at least to remember to avoid including too much 'floor' space.

Then there was some very old Wephota NP27 ISO 400 that I also pushed a stop - this lot in a Grafmatic film magazine.  On several shots there were two distinct light streaks, definitely from the magazine itself, but otherwise I perhaps misjudged the exp/dev as they turned out fairly underdone.  Most have been cropped, one was a blank and another too boring to show.

At least the group shot shows how engaged we all were.  Bunch of geeks, and I mean that as a compliment.   ;D

The Mamiya roll devved up just fine.  But later.

Really like all these black and white shots, and I don't look terrible in them, which makes a change!

I still have my black and white to develop, and another roll of colour, but here's some from what I developed yesterday.

From Mamiya C220 using Porta 400, dev with Tetenal C41 Kit

Bronica ETRS with Ektar 100, Dev with Tetnal C41 Kit

This last one I include only because, out of context, I find it both funny and sad in equal measure.

The stones are one thing, and there will be some scans later, but there were a couple of interesting characters apart from the usual suspects ...

Going to be a week or two for me to get mine processed as traditional B&W.  Must get back to using XP2 Super as I can get that processed in a day....

Lovely work by all and a really great day out.

Well, today has been a blast.  After a hiatus of what must be approaching 30 years, I finally got round to developing two rolls of film.  These were Kodak Tri-X from the weekend that Lara and I enjoyed in Bath and the Filmwasters trip to Avebury.  The following photos are from the roll that turned out to be Avebury.

I'd forgotten what a PITA it is to get film onto the Paterson 35mm nylon spiral. The first one went on at about the third attempt.  I lost count of times the film un-spooled itself on the second roll - though I got there eventually.  Only one minor mishap as two of the frames didn't seem to get any chemicals.  Otherwise, I'm reasonably pleased with the results.  Not professional standard processing but, then again, I'm not a professional  ::)

I'll post the photos I've scanned in 2 sets of three.  Actually, I was going to post as a "One Camera, One Roll" until I remembered this thread.  I've got a couple more rolls to develop, so I will do an essay from one of the other rolls.

- Nikon F6, Nikkor 14-24mm/f2.8 and 28-70mm/f2.8 lenses
- Ilfosol 3 _ Ilford Stop bath and fixer.
