What I shot this week/end! Jan 20-24
« on: January 21, 2010, 07:03:51 PM »
Figured I'd start this one as I work all weekend. Had a little haikyo adventure yesterday exploring an abandoned greyhound track 35 miles north of Phoenix. So I'm wandering around taking Polaroids, taking my time, and I step into the building...there is an old woman in a nightgown standing there pointing a handgun at me! And it was like an old-school six shooter. Caretaker I assume, but I bolted. I wasn't up for conversation at gunpoint! Guess I won't be checking that place out again. A bit ridiculous, really. Neat place, though.

Wow, I thought you were making that up at first until I got to the end, and no punchline!

Facing up to six-shooters in the line of your art, that's dedication!

I'm catching up on a bit of scanning from the summer. These from a glorious trip to Cornwall. These are Penzance.

Hey Nigel ! These are really good pictures...

I was there few months ago and I love that swiming pool ! I couldn't take any pictures because there were loads of  people inside and I though they might think I was doing something bad... I just didn't want any hassle ! Unfortunately didn't had a chance to go back. I did few shots around that area with my Holga though...

one neg scan, one c-print (almost there on the c-print, just needs a small  tweak to warm it up for a final print..)

thanks Chops / Diane - they were taken with my Holga 120GFN and Fuji Pro 400.

Diane - we haven't heard from you for ages, I'm very envious of your trip to Portland, one of my favourite cities. Good to have you back though!

I, too, am envious, Diane.  I love Portland.

Was under the weather for a couple weeks..had a bit of a hospital stay due to a green pea size kidney stone..(YUCK!) and then took my little trip to Portland..Had a great time and got some good photos..I met Jim at his place of employment at the photo shop but didn't get to spend much time  unfortuneately! I was so lost without a computer!
Nigel..yes, I thought about you while in the city..cause I remembered how much you said you liked it there!..Fabulous restaurants.....BTW!

some late breaking shots with the Zeiss Ikon (523/16).  At an auction Benefit for an uninsured Seattle based artist who recently had surgery.

B&W neg c-prints. Just whipping them out fast for fun - no attempts at making a technically good print....

I recently tried my grandfather's old Voigtl?nder Vito II. And it still seems to work perfectly fine though it's probably something like 50 years old.

Wow!  Brilliant stuff and stories too, (flipping hell Sean!).

Nigel, I love those outdoor pool pictures, there is one in my town too, it hasn't been used in years.  There's something really cool about these places.

Love the diptych pairs Hookstrapped, and Vicky's portrait of Grace, lovely.

Good to see that camera on the road Alan.  Great pictures!

I'm still scanning a few snowy pictures, this was from one of the coldest days, Jess hopped over the fence, and I ripped my coat in the rescue.

Grrrrreat stuff.  I find capturing the beautiful light and the sense of cold very difficult.  Very nice.

Thanks :) Unfortunately it was the only image that came out OK on the film. Next on my list are a light meter and a small tripod (a Gorilla Pod, maybe?) so that I can try again.
