Hey guys,
I haven't shot with my Superheadz Black Slim Devil or Golden Half in a couple years, and I recently found that they've both become sticky. My guess is that the rubber coating on both is chemically breaking down? I've owned both cameras for about 10 years. Anyone else had this problem? I went online to buy a new Black Slim Devil and the black one at least is going for more than $100--way more than I'd pay for one of these little plastic things :( Is there any way I can clean the coating to remove the stickiness?

try a homemade paste of:
2 parts baking soda
1 part olive oil, or other vegetable oil
rub in on a small area first to see if it works, then wipe clean. see if that helps

So, will this reverse the stickiness or just kind of stop it?

Not sure about prevention, it might just clean it.

Cool--I'll give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

I had a sticky shutter on a Diana Mini. Had to use some lighter fluid on it to get it working again.

Yes, had the same problem on my Golden Half. I could find no way to clean the gunk off, it ruined the camera and I threw it in the garbage after saving the lens by sawing out the structure around the lens. Thought I might try to mount the lens as fixed focus on a Leica M. It would have to be mounted recessed into the camera on a plastic body cap.

Do they all have this rubber coating? I have a Golden Half, Zebra edition and it just seems to be made of hard plastic? Did they just do away with it for later cameras?
