Arabic weekend, 25-26 February
« on: February 23, 2012, 05:02:52 PM »
Well, here in Sudan the weekend (Friday and Saturday) starts on Thursday, so... here it comes  ;D

I am working in a Book that it will be named, People of Khartoum, Yes, title is not very original. The book will be divided in two, People of Khartoum with a polaroid and People of Khartoum with a Rolleiflex. The goal is to have 80 pictures, 40 from each camera. Polaroid shots will be color, Polaroid 108, for the Rolleiflex, Kodax Tmax 400. You will be able to start the book from one side with the Rolleiflex, flip it down and the book will start with the Polaroid.. Usually I shoot the same scene, person, with two different cameras (Polaroid and Rolleiflex), so I think it can be ¨curious¨ to see the same object with different cameras. Pursuing this project has helped me to have a goal when shooting, shooting with specific film and cameras, as well as focusing on same theme, portraits. I will be in Khartoum until the end of October. After that I guess I will need few months to finish the project, so I envision the book in little less than one year  :'( Well this is it!

Two Polas, with expired 108 and Rolleiflex kodak Tmax 400

Carlos, those are great.  And I wish you luck in completing your project book.

I got quite used to the Fri/Sat weekend in Oman so here's a couple of reminders from a few years back ...

The echoes across a valley could sometimes be astonishingly beautiful, but the one thing I won't miss is the tannoy from the mosque at five in the morning.

Sandeha, nice ones, specially the 3rd one, love the colors..

Yes, the mosque at 5.00am is quite revealing. I had been in other arab countries and the difference here is that sometimes they just not make the call but the whole praying that can last up to one hour, and that is quite a thing... :'(

Had half an hour to spare in Norwich this week after a visit to the dentist - just time to finish a roll of FP4.
Rolleicord/FP4+/Moersch Finol.
Happy weekend to all.

Gosh., it's almost the weekend!

Liking Miller's pola a lot!

Here's another long exposure solargraph from me.  This one was started in January and ended this afternoon. It looks like I need to tweak the angle just a bit higher and more west to capture a full 365 day cycle...

Boy has it been a long time since I posted anything here!
Here are some shots from the Diana Muti Pinhole Operator.
I must admit I'm quite impressed by the results.

quite a treat to see photos from you Francois!   :)
I like the first and third one.  The third one has that wild sun flare zapping business going on that I like.

Thanks Becky!

The one with the cat that says mi-août (a wordplay between the the words mid-August and a cat saying Meow!) has so much grain on the original scan you'd think somebody at Fuji sprinkled pepper on the film...

What I like is that on the negative, you can see some interference patterns in the flare... very geeky :)

The grain seems amazingly large for some Acros 100 processed in HC-110 dil.B for 5 minutes...

Hi all, great images to enjoy as usual.  I particularly like Becky's solargraphs because they aren't stopping time like photographs usually do.  It's so interesting to see what happens with the sun's arc.

Here's one of my kid running for the waves around Jan 1.

Cheers,

Jeff

A couple more.  The roll lost in the post for a while, or these might have come up sooner ...

Two 4x5 rail cameras, (one portrait, one landscape) and an RB67 back with Fuji 160ns.  And my crappy old scanner that does weird things.

From today walk in a gale on the moor. The sun came despite the high winds and hail-showers. Wrestled the OM-1 with Delta100 rated at 400 [because that's what I thought it was]. Sloshed in Rodinal.

Just when you think Spring is in the air. You enjoy the unusually warm weather. You hear the birds chirping. Yellow grass is showing through the last little bits of snow left. Plop! the big one falls down. Cute but...

All just wonderful  :)

Great start by Calbisu and Sandeha. Becky's solar graph wonderful! Other favourites are Miller's polaroid, Nick' cathedral shots, Andrea's rusty car, Jeff's kid and Axia's Holga snap :)

I've been dancing again this weekend, the waltz this time. Andrea came along too. It was all too much for some people. OM10, HP5 @800, developed in LC29.

Fantastic solargraph Becky! Really inspiring. I must try this sometime...
Come to think of it, feels like solargraphy is an area where digital is never going. Just think of all those batteries that would need changing  :o

From my darkroom this week. Two prints, both printed on Fomatone MG Classic paper (Matt 132).

Lith-8 by Klick-klick-klick, on Flickr
Lith print. I find it really hard getting a good representative scan from a print like this. The print doesn't quit fit in the scanner so the discolouration (a real word?) at the top is the scanners fault.

Shed by Klick-klick-klick, on Flickr
Holga print. Done with split contrast printing (after reading about it here on FW)

A bad day in the Darkroom is better than good day at work...
