One roll, one subject: Woodland Walk above Neath
« on: February 08, 2015, 06:15:43 PM »
One roll - one subject

TBH, half a roll, which should have covered three weekend woodland outings, but in the end just one.  But still, there are six shots I'm quite happy with.  Tri-X in DDX, shot through a 43/1.8 Limited Pentax on an MX.

I particularly like the last one, it reminds me a little of the area around the bar pool in Glyn Neath, where I grew up.

Spot on, Verian.  It's actually one of the waterfall pools above Dinas Rock just by Glyn Neath.

I just figured that most people would not have heard of such a tiny place.   :)

I used to live at the top of Brynhyfryd in Glyn Neath (number 30) until I was about 8 1/2 I think, and we had many an adventure at Dinas Rock, actually there were adventures to be had everywhere! I remember that we really believed that King Arthur was sleeping under Dinas Rock somewhere and would one day awake, we even went looking for an entrance to the cave he was in. I'm not allowed to say whether we found it or not of course.

Lovely set, Sandeha. That last one with the steps coming down to the pool reminds me so much of a pool by the bend in a river that I used to half-drown in when friends and I used to play in it as kids.

I really like that last shot! You found a great spot to take the group photo.

Thanks.  It wasn't always so 'natural'.  150 years ago that pool, and the steps cut into the side, probably housed a waterwheel running pumps from the two silica mines on either side - it was a busy industrial complex.

The shadows framing the group photo would have been even more striking if I had a decent scanner for 35mm.   :'(
