Title: back to 55
Post by: jojonas~ on November 11, 2015, 02:51:14 PM
And that being 55mm ;) what, did you think I was around in the 50's?? :o :D

I did one of those "let's sell stuff and only keep what I use"-ideas and sold off a 55mm MC Rokkor-PF 1.7 that I miss from time to time.

now that I've gotten that Asahi Pentax SL and with it came a fine "Super-Multi-Coated" Takumar 55mm 1.8 of an equally classic sort as the Rokkor. Mm... metal<3 Glad they shortened it to SMC later though, geez.

But yeah, in equal celebration and remembrance I thought I'd have the photos of then and now meet

Nice, love the flakescoffeemugskal. I have 2 1.7/55 Rokkors, fine lenses. Both (like most?) needed some CLA, did it myself.

Another great lens is the the million times sold under different brand names 1.4/58 f.i. from Cosina. Dreamy wide open, sharp and contrasty from f/2. A 7-element old Planar type by Leitz, thrown away and licenced cheaply because they regarded it to be not good enough. A lens with character. Many of these seem to be like new today after 40+ years like the 2 I have.

An underdog who doesn't fear any competitor is the Pentacon 1.8/50 as the last incarnation of the Meyer Oreston:
