Title: (Another) Abandoned Mill
Post by: Kayos on August 02, 2015, 06:42:59 PM
Full write up here: https://kayosphotography.wordpress.com/2015/08/02/prospect-mill-thornton-bradford/ (https://kayosphotography.wordpress.com/2015/08/02/prospect-mill-thornton-bradford/)

Another mill I pass often in Bradford is Prospect Mill
Damaged by fire and closed in 2011, it was already in a pretty poor state by then, as Google Maps from 2009 shows.
Access was straightforward, past a row of terraced houses and into an open yard, with access all the way round
All the shots were taken on a Praktica BC3, mostly with a 35-70mm f2.8/4 lens, some used a 135mm f2.8 lens
Mostly shot on HP5+, a few on Rollei Retro 400s and all developed in Rodinol for the grainy feeling

Good to document these old factories, down south it would be converted to luxury flats....

Thank you, it hints at the fact one of the units was a motorbike breakers

Plenty more to go at too :)

The new brownfield planning permission rules will only hasten the conversion process as well

I also love decay. Fine series. I bet the last 4 were made on HP5+.

Thanks, decay is probably what I enjoy shooting most, as different shots and technique can give such a different perspective.

The last shot of the smashed bike clocks is on Retro 400s

Nicely done set.
I especially like the detail shots they add so much more to the story. As been said down here that would be rebuilt luxury block of flats by now worth milloins'is it listed. is fhat why it still standing?

It's probably still standing due to being listed, a great idea when the building is in use but once it falls into disrepair it just pushes the cost of fixing it up massively
