Thanks François! There's also the option to use contact printing paper (like Fomalux) as Andrej suggested. I will see what I can find in the house to cut down the light.

I think you could even add sheets of white paper, provided your bulb doesn't generate too much heat.

I know I read in an old book that using a 4w indicator bulb is just about right.

I use a 0.4W LED François so the heat shouldn't be an issue. I did a lot of Origami some years ago and I'm sure I have some paper around that I could use.

In that case I would just pile up a few layers of plain white printer paper. That won't affect the color of the light but you'll get quite a bit less light.
