1948 Chevrolet - Homemade Lens.
« on: June 14, 2011, 11:56:42 AM »
I recently got around to photographing a friend's unrestored 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster. Despite it's age, the car is still in regular use.

I mounted a single convex magnifier element to my Rollei SL66 and captured the images on Fuji Acros. Film developed in HC110.

Regards,

Lawrie.

beautiful -  love that effect - extreme soft focus!

im working on a series of images at the mo and I can
really only acheive this effect through photoshop.

must trick around with some glass . . .

well done the subject is really suited to the "lens"

This is brilliant Diane...It's like a photo of a toy car taken on the top of a coffee table!

Nice stuff.  Two very different ways of negotiating focus with startlingly different effects.  I've been toying with the idea of cognitive process, mostly looking at the ways that a still photo can tell a story: as the viewer's eye moves from one level of interest to another and another and some sort of meaning unfolds from that in a dynamic way.  These pictures seem to me to do something like that but in a formal way--more abstract and purely visual than narrative.  They're very satisfying to look at in spite of (or maybe because of) the fact that the manipulation of focus has seriously de-emphasized the context.

Great Set of images, Lawrie

At first glance I thought the 2nd one actually said filmwasters.

Diane thought yours was also one of the set until I read the words.
