4LR44 batteries in the Philippines 4 x LR44 solution
« on: October 28, 2010, 04:58:37 AM »
Hello everybody! I have a “ technical” question. I recently moved to the Phlippines (where I am going to be for at least one year) and brought with me the Canon A1 (I think there was a thread about which camera would you pick up from your array of cameras…? Question answered : ). Well the thing is that I cannot find 4LR44 batteries down here and I read somewhere that I can put together 4 x LR44 button batteries, put some aluminium on the top so it fits and voila! I was wandering if that might kill the camera. Has anybody heard or used that? Help appreciated.
Carlos.
I found them on ebay but it takes some times to bring them down here..

It won't kill the camera as, electrically, they are the same. The 4LR44 is slightly larger but you might find the spring in the battery holder will take up the slack. If not, ally foil or similar should work.

there's even some 4LR44s that are just made up off 4 LR44s and taped together. I forget what brand though, but I think it's quite funny in a way ;D
