Filmwasters - Tokyo Brunch.
« on: February 28, 2011, 09:57:42 AM »
* Shimokitazawa, Deli and Baking (世田谷区北沢2-29-2 - with a map here: http://yj.pn/zRY9sN).
* Sunday, March 27.
* 11:00.
* Quiet walk afterwards if weather OK, or not as the case for some of us who care not about getting cold or wet.

Map to follow for anyone interested. ありがと。Skj.

I can happily say that I will be there! And I will be walking and shooting, rain or shine!

Same bakery as last time I assume? Nice little place...gotta get some more Village Vanguard action in, as well.

I have been going to Tokyo at least once a year for half a decade so hopefully I will be able to join one of these someday. I'd have to bring my GOOSE.

Customs in Japan are so easy. You say something funny to them in Japanese, say that you have been in the country many times, put a good kid smile, and they let you through.

OTOH when I come back home in London (I usually travel every week or every two weeks) and they flag me down they seem to be pretty pissed off when they don't find anything that I am importing illegally.

Sorry for derailing the topic but speaking of Tokyo, have you guys ever met the crazy Nikon guy in Shinjuku? I have seen him a few times already in different trips. Mid to late 40s, white hair and glasses. He's got that "Japanese photographer" look, if you know what I mean!

I have always met him either around Yodobashi or Kitamura, or at the other side near ALTA. He looks at my F3HP and repeats "YES! YES! Nikon namba one!" to himself while walking away. Apparently he loves Nikon F3 so much that he's got a number of bodies that he shoots every day, though funny enough, I have never seen the cameras! (Though he always carries what looks like a camera bag).

Skorj, I'll hopefully be there. Is the place hard to find? As for the Nikon guy, I agree, he's probably an "air photographer."

Is the place hard to find?

It depends on how well you know Shimo. Hopefully the map makes sense? Regardless, please drop us an email, and I can give you my keitai... See you there! Skj.

Confirming, we have five or six participants for next week's brunch! Should be good fun, especially as the weather is warming up nicely, so the walk looks attractive too. See you all next week! Skj.

Here we come, walking down the street...we get the funniest looks from everyone we meet!

A couple shots of some filmwasters from the morning! Still have barely scratched the surface with my scanning.
