Title: Transparent Camera or Chocolate teapot?
Post by: AJShepherd on November 27, 2013, 04:03:23 PM
Lomography have just released the Konstructor Transparent Collector's Edition (http://shop.lomography.com/gb/cameras/konstruktor-family/konstruktor-transparent).
Yes, it's a completely transparent kit camera which is of absolutely no use whatsoever, and it costs MORE than the proper one!
I know Lomography are all about the light leaks, but this is ridiculous.

I reckon someone put clear plastic into the machine by mistake and didn't notice until they'd made a bunch.

I have heard of some cameras being produced in transparent versions, for sales and showrooms, but the light tight bits were still light tight, and they still worked, that I've heard of.

You would have to be a fan to buy that....

Dont get me wrong with a bucket load of cash, empty shelf space and a wife who liked clutter - i could see the appeal - but alas I have none of the above

I especially like the 'not for photographic use' disclaimer.

Funny product and funny comments. Although it kind of reminds me of the "visible" models I liked when I was a kid.

But I think the satisfaction a kid had seeing how it works pales in comparison to actually using it. I think I will take another copy of my visible wankle kit instead ;-)

No wonder the digital lovers think we're all just a bunch of hipster freaks.

At least the chocolate teapot is edible.

I duuno, I think it's kind of cool. Obviously meant to be a model. Be neat to spray the interiors black so it could be used. Fuji made a transparent Fujipet back in the day (too lazy to find the photo), probably meant for display.

Isn't visible wankeling a misdemeanor?

True, but then why not just pay half the price for the already-black functional Konstruktor?  Granted, I am generally not a fan of tschotskes, but I'm definitely not a fan of insanely overpriced tschotskes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA, Adam I am glad to see that I am not the only one who has part of the brain that is permanently stuck in that mode. I kind of snorted when I typed (for the first time in a while) 'wankel'. My wife sometimes refers to my teenage son and myself as Beevis and Butthead (a reference he actually catches) when we find some word way too amusing for (in her mind) the wrong reason.  ::)

Guilty, guilty, guilty... but (mostly) unrepentant.

Im far too nerdy. I've never seen a clear working wankel engine. Far too impressed with that I must have missed the gutter on the way through.

So...this new Lomo camera has more consistent and even light leaks than its predecessors?

I know I've once seen a Polaroid that was completely transparent. It was a store demo to show customers how advanced the camera was.

Don't be, it'll look very good on the shelf!
It also makes a fun to assemble paperweight...

Haha. I would not be guilty. Almost all the fun I got from gaffenflex kit was in the making of it (despite the cursing it caused haha). Sure I put a roll through it - but that was mainly to see that it worked. So I bet if I bought a black Konstructor it would only get a few more rolls through it than a clear one.  I used to make "flyable" airplane models when I was a kid and eventually stopped trying to fly them (as making them look good and be flyable started to be competing goals). I think this is the same thing.

When you get yours, use tweezers for the small springs... it's the only simple way to get them hooked-up properly without taking someone's eye out  ::)
