Title: Building my own LF Camera for wet plate.
Post by: charles binns on November 29, 2018, 04:24:02 PM
It's been a while since I posted here.

I'm planning to make my own camera, wet plate holders, dip trays etc so I can start wet plate work.  Does anyone have any plans (or links to plans on the interweb) for simple cameras and plate holders?  I'm not looking to make anything fancy - a sliding box camera such as these https://www.flickr.com/groups/1139489@N25/pool/ (https://www.flickr.com/groups/1139489@N25/pool/) would be brilliant.

Thanks!

Not plans as such but some good images of parts of the Bulldog large format cameras that you can assemble yourself.

You could start with something like an Afghan box camera that has a few modifications...

This would allow you to completely skip the plate holders and simply use a black transport box.

I know some people modify existing film holders to fit a plate from the back side. They cut a hole in the divider and use wire at the corners to hold the plate in.
