Hi
On the subject of contributing to photography related books. I have been part of this particular collaboration. Funny part is, none of the contributors have ever met face to face. The power of internet I suppose.
It's still a bit rough, and it will be subject to updates I suspect. But please have a look.

Nice! Bookmarked

A good thing about the book is the diversity of the approach to brewing and applying caffenol. From those who want 100% predicability, weighing ingredients to an accuracy of a 10th of a gram, to those who roast their own beans, and throw in pinch of this and a dash of that, and all get it to work.

Amazing stuff! Wonderful projet to be part of...
With the prices of chemicals around here this is going to be my er... coffe table book!
I'm spreading the word ;)
-
You also have a few nice images in there :)
-
Nice work! I quickly buzzed through it and have it bookmarked.
I'm a seat of the pants shooter and a very laid back developer so this is a great read.
Thanks for posting!!!

Thanks Francois. I put the Lake Louise picture in there for you ;)

The only way I can justify buying instant coffe ;)
-
The worse the instant coffee the better, no kidding. Expensive Arabica beans are low on caffeic acid (not the same as coffeine). Cheap Robusta beans on the other hand have more caffeic acid, the active agent.
With regards to viewing format. There will eventually be a non-flash version once the web developer get's round to it. He has to build up some steam first.

Ah, yes please. But I understand how that would be a wasted effort until it's ready. But as a web developer myself I just have a huge problem with Flash ... ;)
BTW, it seems like I've met more off the authors than you have Eirik! I met Reinhold last year (after not meeting up with him while we lived in the same city for four years ...) and I move to Munich next year so I'll meet Dirk, too. Where exactly are you located Eirik? The big tour of Scandinavia is planned for 2014 ;)
-
Thank you Urban.
I live 60km south west of Oslo. Bo, a Dane and the heart of our project, lives in southern Sweden. Would have been fun to meet up somewhere.
-
This looks like a great book - congrats. I'll leave this post here for a week or so, then move it to the Resources section.
-
splendid work! this would be a good thing to have in the darkroom :)
btw, liking the uhm.. latin, is it? on the webpage ;)
-

It's hard to believe they can produce anything worse than Nescafe but thanks for the tip!

I've tried access the mobile site from my ipad and can only get I assume the first page.
Is this a fault with ipad rendering of the page or the site itself?
I have however used the main link from my pc. The book looks good but must have in depth look.

Book looks like it is Flash based. No iPad or iPhone :( would love to see a PDF version
-
Yes, right now there's only a flash version. But that's due to the fact that the book is not done, yet. AFAIK other formats are planned for when the content is finished.

This has given me an idea... maybe we should collect the old leftover coffee at the end of the day at the office and save it for good use. The stuff already smells horrible when fresh so it's got to be good for something ;D

Is it done with real coffee Francois?
-
I don't know. All I know is that it is a brown liquid that comes out of a percolator that has a big pot that says something like 8 cups on it.
The stuff is so nasty I think that if you pour it out in the garden, it will kill all the plants and melt a hole to the center of the earth!
-
That's it, instant coffe.
-
would love to see a PDF version
So would I!
-
Too bad the mobile version can't be accessed from Firefox. That would make converting to PDF so easy!
-
The mobile version now works: http://m.caffenol-cookbook.com/ (http://m.caffenol-cookbook.com/) Tested on Safari for iOS, and on a few Android devices. Also works on regular PC/MAC browser, if you prefer to scroll top to bottom - rather than reading it book style.
-
a bit much on the empty spaces, but I do prefer the mobile version. thanks! :)
-
Thanks for putting up the mobile version. I saved it so I can view it at anytime.

This is an excellent and informative volume, Ezzie and collaborators! Thank you very much for posting the link. I wish I'd seen this a few weeks ago...my copy and pasting recipes from various websites into a wordpad file days are over! Bookmarked :D

@ Urban and Ezzie: Could indeed be fun to meet up when Urban makes his grand tour of the north!
To everyone else, I´ve changed several things to improve the experience for tablet, mobile and desktop users.. Hope it helped!
Best,
Bo
