No More Square Format Polaroids?
« on: August 21, 2006, 05:04:32 AM »
Is this true? Has someone seen confirmation? This would be distressing; the square stuff was always easy to get, cheap, and had a great range of types. As long as they keep making the other stuff for a few more days at least, I can keep plugging away with them instead.

The square Type-87 was a particularly versatile film, shot at either f9 or native f64 for total DoF, it could be pushed, pulled, and messed about all over the place. One of my all time favorites. Sniff. Skj.

That would be a shame indeed. Haven't heard anything stateside but if I do I'll post. BTW, this example is utterly fantastic and dreamlike in a nightmarish way. Love it.

Heard about if from an online friend this weekend. If you go to Polaroid's site and click on the 80 film types, all say that it will be discontinued in the last three months of this year do to phasing out components used in the production of the film.

Why can't they just sell their entire production lines to some Chinese company...

I wouldn't care much from whom I get my film... I just want to still be able to get some.
I'm not "yet" a polaroid junkie, I just hate to see a good product disapear without any replacement.
