I've been stalking an abandoned house lately (for several weeks or a month actually). It's about to be demolished and I wanted to capture to some extent the way it feels to walk around in someone else's personal space: the occupants just left and didn't take everything (quite) with them. I finally feel that I got what I was after.

I really like these, Terry. Strangely, although I'm usually a bigger fan of mono than colour work, it's the colours in these shots and the patches of light and shade that make them pop off the screen for me. Had the rooms been carpeted, I doubt the photos would have "worked" quite so well. You've done a very good job of bringing to life the slightly melancholy feel of this place.

Thanks Paul. The first few rolls I shot in there just looked like empty spaces. When I found the room with the closet door open and the toys spilled on the floor I felt I was in the right frame of mind. Then I began seeing the other spaces differently.

Yes, that second one really captures that theme. Well done!
-
From an artistic point of view I think the first shot's great, very effective. The colors work so well together with the composition.

Thanks Satish and Adam. The color shots are expired Portra 160 NC. Still my favorite color film. (Thankfully I've got about 150 feet of it in the fridge, and it doesn't seem to be deteriorating. Yet.) The others are HP5; all shot in my favorite Yashica 44.

I especially like 2 and 4

Number 2 for me, it looks more organic or alive.. Or may be because it has more clear traces from its previous inhabitants

Carlos--I agree; I like that one best too. It was a box of toys left behind by a child (I guess). The writing on the yellow paper was Chinese. Things like that suggest a story...

Very nice, Terry. The 4th and the 5th are talking to me.

What are they saying??????

What are they saying??????
They say: "Look at me how well composed I am. Look how nice is the interplay of light and shadows, how beautiful the full range of grays are."
Satisfied? ;)

Yes!!!! Thanks!
-
No. 5 is a stonker!
-
The third is my favourite though all of them are quite attractive due to soft colours (NC stands for neutral colours I think)
Well done.
