I am in a Film Photo Club in Phoenix.  We decided to order a bottle of the R3 developer from New55.  5 Different people, different films, different cameras, all with same results, banding at sprockets on the 35mm and streaks on the 120.  No agitation and used at 80 degrees per directions.  I did try one roll with some agitation (spinning the reel in the tank gently).  Seems to me the problem is as it gets poured into the tank, the development is irregular due to the flow into the tank.  Once in it's stand state, development is normal.  I have seen some people's results here that do not have this problem, but seems that most do have this issue.  Is everyone using a Patterson tank for their film developing?  maybe better results with a single metal reel tank?

I think that there will always be bromide drag on 35mm film that is stand developed. It is less noticeable in busier, high contrast areas and more noticeable in low contrast areas like skies. This is primarily why I have stopped stand developing 35mm b/w film. The monobath isn't doing anything differently in a chemical sense than a 2-bath process, so all the same caveats apply.

The thing is that most monobaths are designed for developing sheet films in a tray... You can't get much bromide drag that way since the only possible motion due to density changes in the chemistry is up and down.

I'm picturing (ha!) a sludgecore type band. Possible Filmwasters remote collab? I'd love to play drums ;D

Call it The Bromide Drags and I'm in (I'm not sure why, probably age, but I've always preferred band names that are plural and prefaced with "The").
