While the most I have spent on a film camera (well, for the last 20 years at least) is under $200, the $1,000 tintin spent is pretty economical. He could be shooting with that thing for decades with the occasional CLA (and then sell it for more than he paid for it). Fortunately I have the 35mm camera of my dreams - the much more modest ON2n - but I will at some point drop some reasonable cash for a Pentax 67, so maybe I am just using his purchase to rationalize my future ones haha.
For an adventure that involves technology, film photography - even if you are getting a camera of your dreams - is pretty economical. Or so I will explain to my wife when I buy a Pentax 67
