Surely the weekend has started! 31st Jan
« on: January 31, 2013, 08:02:40 PM »
The sun shone today. After the storm we had for the two days before it was welcome I can tell you. So I took a barking dog out on the beach for a stroll. The Pentax slr was loaded with Polypan-f.

The sun managed to come out in Sussex yesterday too. So out came the Linhof and some FP4. I had to treat the 'Hof to some WD40 as it has had so many days out in the rain recently, it was getting sticky and rusty. The bellows are on their last legs too (if bellows have legs?)

Newick Windmill - the conservators, removed the acro-metal supports, turned the mill to a good position for me to take this pic, I owe them some prints! Mill is from the 1750s with the central support dated from a previous mill in the 1500s.

A few from this past weekend. I have been taking a few shots of abandoned and disused military bases. These are inside an aircraft hanger at the former Alameda Naval Air Station in Alameda, near San Francisco. Taken with my Rolleiflex 2.8E on Delta 400 Pro.

Liking the gritty monochrome stuff (I think Phil's counts) so I'll continue the b+w theme.  After a long frozen spell we had a warm-up so I got out in the woods with my Korona 4x5 before the ice in the creek had melted completely.  This is Arista (ie, Foma) 100 souped in 1+50 Rodinal.

Alameda is a favorite spot for Mythbusters. They often go there when they need a long runway to send cars flying without killing anyone.

....obviously apart from Phil. His two shots this weekend are so bad he actually missed the car when he was framing each shot. Schoolboy error. Also, I don't believe either shot was taken in Texas.

Some beautiful images as always :)

So Terry kindly gave me his Ciro-flex TLR camera. It is so much fun! I haven't quite got the hang of light-metering yet, so some are a little over or under, but it's a great camera to use. Thank you very much Terry! I made the most of the snow, and this is my favourite...

Pretty nice start there Emma.
And don't worry about light metering. Getting exposures right in the snow is probably one of the hardest things to do!
Thing is there is so much white in the image that every known lightmeter gets fooled at a point or another. And even exposure computers can get fooled.

Thing is, here in Canada, we either have a lot of sun on the snow (and very cold weather) or we get very gray skies in the winter. I don't think I've ever had a Winter scene where my meter corrected correctly. And there are a lot of theories on how to shoot in the snow. Some people say we should trust the meter. Some say we should overexpose. Then there are some that say we should underexpose and overdevelop while others say we should do the opposite to get a greater contrast range in the negatives...

Surely the weekend has started! 31st Jan - Definitely!!!!!

what brilliant images above, very strong.

... i was going to comment on each one but its too much they are all top top top class!

Here is one from me, taken on ILFORD Delta400, developed in ILFORD ID-11 and shot through
the Holga 120pan as a multi...for something different I used the frame numbers for the standard 6x6.
it has been a while since I shot multi exposures,  Neg was scanned as Colour and i dont know
where the "stain" came from?

250px high x 2041px wide  ;D

Oh my golly everyone!  What stunning images!
Jeepers Donkey Dave, that windmill shot makes me feel like I just got a brand new set of eyes.  It's so crystal clear!
And Paul, I've got a soft spot for lighthouses.  That zero pinhole capture is hypnotic!

I've started to shoot at night in the big-bad-city.  Had always been afraid of getting mugged.  It's a bit 'scary' at times, but the beauty of the city-grit and the longtime desire to learn to be adept at metering night scenes "in my head" is calling me.    This was a quick Polaroid 667 I grabbed while out shooting "my tree".   (I've known him for 2 decades and his name is Gumby,,,, in case anyone's asking).  :)

IME it's usually incorrect fixing, possibly washing.  Fixer may be understrength, exhausted, insufficient volume or insufficient time.  Suggest check the manufacturer's data sheet as a start - if you haven't already ruled all these possibilities out that is.

PS, can try re-fixing & washing, if things clear up then you know what the problem was.

Mine is in the backyard. A beautiful chestnut tree that makes the squirrels go totally crazy every year :)
Too big to take nice pictures of it but it gives me plenty of shade so I don't get sunburn.

Nothing special, just a couple shots from the last outing.  It's heavy clouds and rain almost every day
here and I don't enjoy living during such weather, let alone shooting. So after half an hour walk I was
back home.

Shot with Mamiya 645 Super on Kodak TMY.

Glad I could remind you of home, Christopher! That was my first time in New Orleans & I kind of fell head over heels for the place. Helps that I'm a jazz fanatic--I made a pilgrimage to Congo Square! It's an extremely photogenic city. I'll be back!
