Now i need a film fridge.
« on: April 19, 2011, 05:38:21 AM »
Why am I finding so many deals? Looks like I just scored lots of B&W 35mm film for about $20usd. I had a mate buy it for me, since they were a few hundred miles closer. I was told it was various expired dates but the oldest is three years out of date. 150+ rolls, all individual boxed. I also have some expired FP-3000b and 667 I have to wheel deal on from a closing medical research lab. I was told there were "half a dozen" cases in the refrigerator and "I've give you a insane deal on them. I just need to get rid of them." I'll just give them the expired so and so speech, etc. Hopefully I can get them for a song.

I do have a big fridge in the basement with not much in it... in case you're interested in spreading you newly found film empire up north ;)

If you live in a house and have a cool basement, you could store your film there (as long as it's not damp). My apartment is practically a museum to dearly departed film, but I keep it cool, for the film. I don't matter - only the film. I do have some old ScotchChrome 1000 in the freezer, and some SX70, Kodak Infrared, and various chrome films in the fridge, but there's no room to put the rest in a fridge, so I just keep my entire apartment cool.

It's a little chilly, but on the plus side, I think it is keeping me from aging.

took a sampling, dropped by after work. They had about 250 more packs of fp3000b expired in 2009. Will bring the car next time to haul the rest. They had some 10 twin packs 664, a few 100b for some reason. 667 were not in good condition and were very old.

I have 40 or so more 3000b coming from a ebay seller, before I knew about the lab. The rest of the 250~ 3000b are in cases of bulk foil pack, not individual cardboard boxes.

this is the 108 that expired jan 2000. 180 at 4.5 and 250 with no filter in full sun. i actually shot a test pic with the ND filter at 4.5 and 15 (how i usually shoot) and it was pretty dark, which has been an issue previously with older 669, so defnly works better without. very pretty film!

yeah I have no room for this film in my fridge...

I open up the case today. Looks like it was packed properly, case is shipped in another box with extra layer of bubble.  Looks like my case was resealed I have some from 2000 and some from 1999 expire date. I wasted a shot of that 108 indoors, I forgot I had an extra instant back for the Mamiya Press. The black card was a bit hard to remove. Chemicals spread properly, missing a tiny little bit in the corner, but may have been a bad pull as I was being careful and pulled slower than normal bc of the previous black card. I did not have enough light and barely got an image. To me looks like it is usable. Will try again in the daylight. The shot I had was a bit strange as the printing on the back of the print is reversed. For those who forget Polacolor 108, tabs say Polacolor ER ISO 80. These are the "newest" 108. at ISO 80. Old 108's are the polacolor 2 at about ISO 75.

i bought two cases. both expired jan 2000, and both still had the original tape seals. the black sheet was a bit difficult but once it was out the film pulls just fine.

i recommend overexposing it a bit. it does what a lot or expired 669 does and developed darker or bluer than normal.

Mine is on its way too, but I will take a bit longer to arrive to the Philippines. Anyway cannot be worst than the one I tried from 1996, which still I kind of liked it  ;D Now I have seen they are still selling the pack on ebay but price has doubled!

price has double prob bc someone was re selling smaller blocks of his packs for double.

tried again at the front lawn, needs a tiny bit more exposure, this is 1999 batch.

So general consensus is to over expose a little. I guess with a case we can afford to experiment with a few to see how it performs  :)

Yes more than doubled on price now. Wonder how quickly they'll shift now...

Just to bring an even bigger grin to your face, packs of FP100C go for 27.50$ each and I got a sale on FP100B for 13$ instead of 17.95$... or at least these are the prices around here.

How much did that loot cost you :)

in the states the prices on FP-100c has dropped back to the levels of 2008. at aprox $7.5 a pack. It was at $10 the beginning of the year. The fuji NA warehouses are stock full of fp-100b about to expire before the end of the year. most places are selling the remain 100b for $8.5~9 a pack down from the $9~$10 prices the beginning of the year. fp3000 has not changed in price at approx $9.5.

this posting made me feel like a stock, bonds futures trading speculator.
