Weekend thread 24th and 25th April
« on: April 23, 2010, 09:52:10 AM »
Morning all,

Well, it must be nearly the weekend somewhere in the world.  And I've never started one of these...

Was in Dublin a couple of weeks ago and have just got round to scanning some negs, will add more later.

Acros pushed one stop, and my highly dilute/shabby HC-110 stand development (M6 and old Canon 35mm 1.8)

First - O'Donovan's cafe
Second - Godzilla the rubbish squasher
Third - Window in McDaid's pub (where incidentally I sat next to actress Vera Farmiga, hubba hubba! http://media.photobucket.com/image/the%20departed%20vera/webking02888/vera-farmiga-4.jpg)
Fourth - a photographer's window in Langley.  I'm assuming this is irony that I'm missing?

G?d weekend everybody!

Three polas from my side, with the Sepia 1500 (incredible tonal range). I organized a shooting session which was demanding both on the model (my cousin) and myself. One hour and a half. Two locations, 5 Polas, 3 fuji FP100c, 10 Pentax67 and 4 Kowa 6 shots. I guess there may be a slight influence of Hisaji Hara (the quality of the work is another thing), after Skorj intrduced us to his work (at least I did not know him). Anyway! Here they are.

Calbisu - those are verr nass, especially the first one

I am honoured to have this photograph in the latest special earthquake fund-raising issue of Citypulse, alongside such renowned and brilliant photographers as Edward Olive and Tommy Oshima.

Wow - if I had any spare cash at all I'd be bidding for that image. Superb!

I never, ever contribute to these threads, because I'm roobarsh, but here are a couple that are old - but I've only just had them processed and I scanned them today, so does that count?  :-\

They were both taken on a brief trip to the Cairngorms last year.

Another good  selection of pictures this weekend.

Urban love the grape hyacinths.

Ailsa, certainly not roobarsh, both lovely but the first is my favourite.

Chopper, Windy, Walter, Calbisu  a great  set of picture from each.

Two from me, the first another rodinal stand developed.
The second my first colour film for what seems like years.  Testing out a new to me pentax camera.

My first goop  with the Fuji 3000

The negative side has lasted since yesterday, is that normal?

Whenever I've used the Fuji colour the 'neg' has disappeared within a hour or so?  ???

Nice also to see a Japanese classic car, makes me miss my old Crown (Toyota) 2800.

Calbisu: Looks like you went for it with great rewards.

Wow...what a great thread! Here are a couple of new ones...the first is with a 1970 Nikon F and a Nikkor 105mm f/2.5, using a roll of Ansco Hypan (ASA 500; expired in 1968). The second was taken with a 1939 Rolleicord IIa with a 75mm f/3.5 Carl Zeiss Triotar and fresh Fuji Neopan 400.

Too many to compliment individually, but honestly they would look swell lined up in a gallery!

Camera Asian:  If you clipped all the negs you could make a very cool flip movie.  :)

Peter: those tulips are breathtaking!  Seriously lush work on those.   :)

mikeg, still loving the feel you're getting with that camera, btw. and lovely to see peter's colour work with it too.

i went mad with the magnolias today having not felt inclined for a while..lots of polas but it was the hassy and 800z that pleased me most (for now :)

That's a gorgeous magnolia Vicky.

I'm still loving the Gakkenflex and there are at least 5 or 6 more local castles and ruined abbeys around me that I haven't visited yet. However, the weather has been far too good around here lately -- I prefer brooding clouds and rain!

But I really must try some colour work, Peter's tulips are fantastic.

Thanks for the comments and, Vicky, I really like the magnolia shot. It's also reminded me I've got some 800Z that wants using up. I might try some in the Gakkenflex but I'll need a couple more ND filters. I used one just for the Ektar.

Starting a portrait series of folks I know in my little town.  First roll.

Lucy.

Around 25 years old.  Happily married.  Three pit bulls.  Rides a bike.  Used to work at the Blue Moon, and would lecture customers who left paltry tips on the class system in America.  Elaborate tattoo on chest.

Cassie.

61.  Teaches women's self-defense and freshman English at the college.  Morning regular at the Lost Dog.  Parallels with my life -- grew up in the eastbay, father from Wisconsin, used to live in the same house I live now.

Chris.

Handyman.  Lost Dog morning regular.  Nice guy.

Kimmy.

32.  Just started back at college again.  Another Blue Moon waitress.  She's usually sarcastic with a sneer on her face.  Her and Lucy were quite the pair.  I told her I wanted her to drop that, and she did.
