Hi all,
I recently joined and my profile shows under "position" as 35mm. I don't ever recall such a selection and cannot find where I can correct this setting. Can someone help me?
Thanks!

it's just something that changes depending on the number of posts you have, not something you choose!
-
The only way to change it is to post more :D
-
ohhhh - so it's not an indicator of the type of film you shoot? :P
-
Sadly... no.
I shoot mainly 35mm yet I have enough posts to be considered "self coating".
-
I'd love if there was another way to label members based on number of posts so those (35mm, self coat, peel-apart etc) assignments could tell members what others actually shoot. Hopefully those that shoot 35mm aren't offended that their medium has been assigned the lowest rank. ;))
Good to know what this is all about though!

you can put a comment below your photo...or you can add a tag below your posts! i shoot all kinds of stuff, so i can't be pigeonholed.

Well... they could have gone down to Disk film...Minox... 16mm...110... ;D
Were lucky they didn't.

under such conditions, you might have JUST reached the 35mm level, Francois! ;)

Wow! I never thought anyone would even comment on this...I was just having fun one night a couple of years ago and changed the default forum settings from 'beginner', 'expert' etc. to something more photo-relevant.
Starting at '35mm' and ending up at 'self-coat' (or whatever it is) isn't in anyway serious or judgemental other than being a funny/ironic comment on the way the world of photography can be quite format centric/gear obsessed/snobby etc. which is exactly the opposite of what we want Filmwasters to be. Our hope is that here at FW the image is what it's all about and that while we talk a lot about techniques, styles, creative processes etc. it's all pretty format-neutral (as long as it's on film - natch ;))
Hope that answers your query. A big warm welcome to Filmwasters, Ann, & apologies for missing this the first time you posted.

I always think of Sean as "the guy who can't be pigeon holed". It puts him in a category all of his own. Wait...
;D ;D

actually, i pay good money to be pigeonholed, but that's another story for another forum.

Hi Ed and thank you!
I hope my tongue in cheek comment about 35mm possibly being offended by the assignment of its rank wasn't interpreted as perceiving that this was a judgmental or snobby ranking system. I actually think it's quite creative (right in alignment with shooting film!).
My main thing was that I thought I was somehow supposed to change that setting and couldn't find where I had to go to change it. All set. :D

offended by the assignment of its rank
Maybe the ranks could be reversed then? Ha! That would really confabulate people... Skj.

That appeals to my sense of the perverse. I may mess about with them again sometime and have 16mm as the highest with 'banquet aspect' (or whatever it's called) sheet film as the lowest.
;D ;D ;D
