Title: Update on the Quest to Save Packfilm
Post by: original_ann on March 11, 2016, 12:32:39 PM
I'm putting my positive energy out there in the universe.  I would encourage anyone who's not yet signed the petition to save instant film to do so, as well as to post on the savepackfilm.net website about your love for the medium. Our collaborative efforts can possibly be the catalyst to turn things around.  The latest article on the upcoming sit-down with Fujifilm's management:

I signed up and I don't even use the stuff - but I hate the prospect of others not being able to.

Terrific, guys!  They are agressively shooting for 20,000 signature by the time they meet with Fuji's management.  I suppose anything's possible.  (Or is that something I like to say, as an eternal optimist?) :)

I signed earlier in the week. I must admit that I'm a bit hopeful that Florian Kaps can possibly strike some sort of deal with Fujifilm.

I suppose anything's possible.  (Or is that something I like to say, as an eternal optimist?) :)

If someone other than Fuji take over production they should call it the Anything's Possible Project.

I was so sad to here the news. More so I was mad. I use this film a lot. I however did NOT rush out and buy loads of it. I shoot with a converted Polaroid 110B and almost listed it for sale that day.

I have signed this last week and do hope that Florian can do something.

If not, I may sell the camera (and never buy Fuji again -and I love Acros) that or save it and use it for wet plate colodion.

or re-convert it to use sheet film. I posted a link to the site of an italian guy who makes a simple to install adapter... if you want me to hunt for it again just let me know.

Yep, I signed the petition too (thanks for the nudge, Francois!). I've not shot anything other than pack film for years and although I have an aging stash of Polacolor left, it clearly won't last forever, so my fall back position was always FP100C. What's more I've turned a nuber of friends onto the koys of shooting with Land Cameras over the years and they are all FP100C users. I'd be absolutely APPALLED if Fujifilm shut down production, but I have kind of been expecting this for the last few years. Let's hope Dr Kaps can work his mojo and do something to keep production going.

The meeting is to take place on St. Patricks day, maybe a prayer to the old saint would help? But he would probably not listen to an old heathen like me............

Well...
I would not throw out all hopes.
I heard time and time again that doing business with Asian companies is always a very long process when compared to doing business in the West. You first have to build trust and friendship before actually striking a deal. This can be slow going, especially when communicating through an interpreter.

So all hopes are not gone, just slow.

This is good news from the Save Packfilm Travelog

My first blog entry without an instant picture. Because not even instant pictures - as magic as they are- can really catch miracles. And today, ladies and gentlemen, I had the pleasure to inhale an incredible miracle as a famous and more than successful technology entrepreneur and internet pioneer from California offered his powerful support for this mission. Please allow me to not yet disclose all the details but please trust me when I say that after all the hard days of the last week with very little progress, today finally feels like the turning point and all my batteries are fully recharged for the next steps.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
