Title: Do you keep photographing the same things too?
Post by: jojonas~ on August 29, 2017, 06:55:07 PM
I quite like seeing how the same subjects can look in different light, through different cameras and on different films

Do you have some subjects you keep returning to? Here's two from me:

I like taking pictures, but don't always have the time or resources to go somewhere exciting and new. So I end up taking lots of photos around home and around work. That leaves me with lots of photos of the same thing. Here are the same flowers (surprise!) around my workplace shot with a variety of cameras and films.

A quick search for Basenji on my Flickr account will reveal my most photographed subject.

Also, this mountain pops up a lot but it's kind of hard to miss around here.

I think I have a backlog of flowers that would rival any botanical garden...

And so on... I probably got hundreds of them, but like anything I grew tired of it and moved on.

For a long time now no trip to Brighton has really been complete without taking a shot or two of the rotting old West Pier - because next time I go there may be less or none of it...
From the oldest I have:-

I'm getting pretty sick of this bridge whichever way I photograph it.

Photographing the same thing repeatedly allows you to define yourself as an artist and refer to your "body of work"  ;)

For me, lillies are a regular subject:
