I don't want to speak for Andrej, Leonore, Peter, or Terry, but I had a blast on our third official photowalk. We roamed around Flushing Meadows, got drenched not by the threatening rain but by the Unisphere's fountains (thanks, wind), and stumbled upon the Queens Night Market, which included lots of street food and some very questionable cans of beer (the others stuck to tried-and-trued Stella and Tecate, but yours truly had to go for a Singaporean beer I'd never seen before called "Tiger". It was not impressive). I get to post the first photo, not only because I am the only one of the crewe who lives in Queens (therefore I'm the first home), but also because I was shooting some instant. Here is a picture of 3 of the 5 of us dancing (and not dancing) to a band from Austin TX whose lead singer I had apparently jilted so she was making it her life's goal to annoy me with her folk guitar backed by a dun dun.

Shot on Impossible Project "mystery film" which fortunately turned out to be the same speed as my camera (600).

Another instant picture, this one on the IP stock that I've come to love the most, their black & yellow film (thanks to Kai for this pack!!!)

Sometimes a girl's gotta dance  ;D

Love that black and yellow shot! I'll get my IP shots scanned later today.

Ditto that: and excellent evening out.  Must get into the kitchen and start souping now!

Update: first shot scanned and PS-ed.  Thanks Leonore and Satish for encouraging me to push the HP5 to 1600--it really loves that ISO doesn't it?

Finished souping & scanning my B&W. Tri-X @ 1600 in my new-to-me Pentax ME Super. I think the meter is off by a stop or two, because these all came out overexposed (even though I semi-standed it in HC110 1:100. Odd). Thank Adobe for Lightroom! :D

I think Terry was setting up his shot of the rockets when you said that.  ;D

Okay, here's three of the instant shots, IP color in the SX-70 (thank you again, Satish, for showing me where the film counter was. I had that camera for how long and never noticed it???)

I think the film put that in--I didn't do anything to this scan except chase a few dust specks.  All of my sphere shots on this roll were slightly blue.

Did you get one of the German punks in the subway shot?

Yeah, I think the three look good together, too. And Terry, that shot looks fantastic! As for the blue, remember how blue the pool was below the unisphere - you might have been picking up some of that.

I actually had a lot of problems with all my color rolls (4 of them .. 2 from the photowalk and 2 from before that I combined with these 2). Lots of spots on the films. I guess because the dev is kinda old (the entire liter mixed on 3/25, used on 18 rolls so far). Anyways, sadly, that Unisphere shot is really the only one worth keeping...

Wait, I lied, there were a couple more from the non-bleach bypassed roll (ie, "bleach inclusion" :) )

Using the "Peter technique" aka flash-blur:

Here's that intensely blue building, along with its reflection in the sky

OK, I'll add a few of mine to the mix here. I've got about half a dozen Unisphere shots I'm reasonably happy with, but I'm not going to spam the thread with endless variations, so here's two, one with the Serenar 28/3.5 and one with the Summar 50/2.

On to the New York State Pavillion. The old Theaterama is now the Queens Theater, which is clearly an inferior name. The Tent of Tomorrow is not particularly tentlike and quite empty, but still very cool. The first two of these are with the Summar, the last with the Serenar.

I'll post the ones from the Night Market and the trip home at some point.

Maybe it was the rain.  I like Andrej's shot of the theatre best--it has that 60s futurist feeling that the building's designers were no doubt going for.

I was wondering when "No doubt" would make its first appearance here. I'm glad not to be the one responsible this time.  :P

In any case, here's the rest of mine from the Night Market and the trip home. All with the 28 except for the dancer, which was with the 50.

Being a food market, there were naturally food vendors. And smoke.

And bored security guards in front of monolithic 1960s buildings.

And a group of Korean students shaking their junk.

And a free-range security guard, who did not seem interested in taking advantage of his liberty.

Tromping to the subway created further intrusive filmwasting opportunities.

After the subway ride through the cloudburst, we returned to Manhattan and walked back along 42nd Street, passing the ubiquitous Chrysler Building.

There seemed to be a lot of police activity, almost none of which was my fault. Honest.

And finally, the irresistible (and thus quite overdone) "Streets of New York on a rainy night" shot.

Last one for me.  I had a roll of Rerapan 100 already loaded so I killed it when I first arrived a Willets Point.  A mistake experiment too: I tried souping it in HC110 dil. H for 26 minutes, semi-stand, then I realized that's for a 400 ISO exposure so I stopped development about 13 minutes in.  Worked OK.

Great set of images from everybody. I specifically like this one, which I modestly consider a first class picture, mainly for its coincidence of moment and composition, but also for how it has been processed.

Thanks, Domingo. I was pushing HP5+ to 1600 and stand developed in Caffenol C-L. A little contrast was added, largely to separate the water jets from the background, but the majority of the processing effect was due to the exposure and developing.

LE SIGH!

So, y'know how we all sometimes do silly or stupid things that result in blank rolls? And how our VERY BEST SHOT EVER was on that roll?

And then other times, you do something silly, like...say...hypothetically...forget to push the roll of HP5 that you shot at 1600? So the film isn't ruined completely and you can see those really awesome keepers that you shot? But now everything is grainy as hell, and not in a good way, and shadow detail is lost forever?

 >:(

Some of the images are beyond hope, some might still have some life in them if I tweak them the right way and start thinking of them in different ways from how I envisioned them. Others, inexplicably, ended up very easy to salvage. I have only worked on one or two so far, but I finally have one to contribute to this thread, and hopefully a couple more over the next couple of days.

Ooooh, interesting! Would I be looking at the silver intensifier then? http://stores.photoformulary.com/silver-intensifier/
It says it can be used in light and I watch the negatives to know when I want it to stop. (And that way, I could do only the strips that I feel need it. I think the second half of the second roll is actually workable the way it is.) Would I have to refix the film then?

Wow, that does indeed look interesting. I assume it's only for B&W? Although maybe if used on a color negative it'll come out a little like a bleach bypassed negative. Wait, does a bleached color negative even have any silver in it at all? I don't think it does.

They also make the chromium intensifier which works lightly differently.
With chromium, you have to re-develop the negative after the intensification bath using some print developer.
It's also a lot cheaper than their silver developer.

And BTW, color neg films don't contain any silver once they're bleached...
